After Effects Tutorial: Bullet Waves // Displacement Map

After Effects Tutorial: Bullet Waves (BakersTuts):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NQPraFohwI

"SO: we're gonna use the white parts as a displacement map: aka normal/bump"

1. create a white solid

2. & add "Radio Waves" to it
-frequency: 5
-expansion: 30
-lifespan: 1
-start width: 30
-end width: 5
-& make it white

3. add a gaussian blur: 30

4. another new solid (black) & mask out "your gun" & feather: 50
5. "take the black solid & the rings & pre compose them... "
-& call it: "Displacement Map"

6. create an adjustment layer
-& call it "Displace"

7. effect > distort > displacement map
-set the layer to: displacement map
-set both channels to: luminance
-& change max displace for both to: 15

8. turn displacement map back on
-& set to blendmode: add
-& opacity to: 2% (very low)

AND IT PROBABLY WON'T WORK SO YOU GOTTA:
-right click on displacement map layer
-& click PreCompose...
-THEN cut the effects from the new PreComp
-& open the PreComp
-& paste the effects back onto the Displacement map layer (within the precomp)
-THEN IT SHOULD WORK!
